Corbin Coombs Get to Know Q & A - How did you get your start in track and field and/or cross country? I love sports and activities like basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, ping pong, Pickle ball, and other games like that. I am very active in my church youth group and my family has traveled to Uganda and Guatemala several times to help build schools, medical buildings, water systems, and to educate.
- At school, do you do any extracurricular activities? i.e. student government, clubs or other sports. I have been a part of my schools chess team, but mostly I focus on cross country and track. As a team we help with the local senior Olympics every year. - Pre- and post- race rituals. Any superstitions? I pray before every race and I do a cool down jog after every race. - Movie watcher and/or book reader? What is/are your favorite book and/or movie and why? My favorite movie is Breaking 2 because I find it very inspiring. I love hearing what Kipchoge believes is possible and I like watching the greatest runners achieve mind blowing accomplishments. - How do you deal with setbacks and triumphs? I deal with setbacks by trying to stay positive and adjusting what I could be doing better. I deal with triumphs by showing gratitude for what I’ve been able to accomplish. - Pet owner? If so, what is your pet's name and type/breed? My family owns a bunch of fish, we don’t name them, but I like to watch them swim around sometimes. - Where do you see yourself in five years? In five years I’m hoping to be a better person and athlete. I think I will have a plan for my future and I hope to be on track to become one of the best athletes in the world. - What words would you have for your sixth grade self? Invest in bitcoin and sell on March 13 2024. - Who is your favorite track and field athlete and why? How about other sports-who is your favorite athlete and why? My favorite track and field athlete is Bernard Lagat because of his ability to run a 52 second last lap in a 5k. My favorite athlete is Lionel Messi because his dribbling skills are insane. - Favorite hype song, if any, before your competition I haven’t ever listened to a hype song before a competition, but I like good motivational music that makes me feel happy. - Many athletes are quoted as saying " trust the process". What does that mean to you? Trusting the process to me means that improvement isn’t always linear, but through consistent discipline it is inevitable. - How do you balance social media with your performance? Does social media impact you positively or negatively? I don’t think there is a correlation between social media and my performance, but if there is it would be negative because most of the time I spend on social media is wasted time. - Favorite and not favorite high school subject and why? My favorite high school subject is math because it is usually easy for me to learn and solving problems can be fun sometimes. My least favorite subject is English because I struggle with reading comprehension and grammar rules. - Favorite musical artist and why? What is your favorite song by that artist? My favorite musical artist is Bryan Adams. My favorite song by that artist is Summer of 69. - Favorite pre- and post- meal? My favorite pre race meal is either pasta or a sandwich. My favorite post race meal is Indian food. - Dire question warning :) If you were unable to continue to compete in track and field, what would you do? If I were unable to continue to compete in track and field I would try to get really strong by doing a lot of lifting and working out. - What do you see your legacy being-in and outside the track world? I want my legacy in track to be someone that constantly showed determination, drive, and grit. I hope my legacy both inside and outside of track will show my commitment to my sport, my family, my competitors, and my devotion to God. - What is your vice? What do you binge on that you can't seem to control? I spend too much time watching videos on my phone. - If you could meet anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why? If I could meet anyone I would choose Messi because I am amazed by what he has accomplished and I would love to get an autograph and a picture with him. More videos |
